Boris P. - Business Intelligence IT Consultant

“Aixial is a medium-sized company made up of experts with proven track records in many domains. The company emphasizes dual competencies, versatility and is characterized by a low-turn-over.”

Could you describe your career and how it developed?

My job is extremely varied as it involves both technical and operational services. It starts by an audit of what already exists and what is required, then consulting in the choice of solutions, support during the development phase and the adapting of the complete set of tools: in short, global project management.
I joined Aixial in 2005 when the company was founded. I originally trained as a software designer/developer and was directed towards Business Intelligence IT consulting by various advisors.
What I like most about Business Intelligence: the subject and the upstream analysis of the situation with an overall view of the company’s activities, and the art of combining operations and technology in order to achieve pertinent and useful results.
Like Aixial, I am an operations generalist with two main areas of interest: clinical research and the banking sector.

Why did you decide to join Aixial?

For the diversity of the projects that the company offers in very different operational domains and for its use of advanced technologies. All this coupled with their attentiveness, regularly scheduled evaluations and numerous training programs. You also get a very attractive pack of extra-salary advantages (profit-sharing and retirement plans…)
Aixial is young and rapidly-growing company, with administrative services that are efficient and practical. The atmosphere is similar to that of a start-up with an informal network for knowledge sharing and support. I joined by co-option and my various personal interviews gave me the opportunity to take advantage of their vertical and horizontal career development plans.

What do you see as the major trends in “Business intelligence?”

Business Intelligence IT has been in existence for over 10 years and is already a mature market for consultants and software service professionals like us.
Business Intelligence practices are now becoming widespread thanks to the maturity of the technologies, in particular such highly effective Open Source players as Jaspersoft and Talend.
Even though ergonomics remains the main drawback of a number of free solutions, prices have dropped and the solutions have now been adopted by all types of companies, including medium-sized and very small companies. The ease of interfacing and data consulting enables a dynamic display for an increasingly fine-tuned business management.
The technology and efficiency of real time display is still in its infancy but a real need for it can be seen notably in the banking sector, where trading and share transactions move fast and involve large sums of money.
A third trend is the evolution of data towards 2 D / 3D representational models via GIS /SIG software.
The future of Business Intelligence IT services is in the formatting and in facilitating the reading of the figures of the business activities data.

In your view, what are and will be the company’s keys to success?

Aixial’s success lies in the quality of it teams. It’s a medium-sized company made up of experts with proven track records in many domains. The company emphasizes dual competencies, versatility and is characterized by a low-turn-over. This, of course, has an impact on quality of its missions.
Aixial also makes judicious use of systems for formalizing the modeling of software or of projects (UML, V cycle).
